Dublin-born, London-based artist Fears has revealed her new single, ‘cliff’, taken from her upcoming album, affinity. She explains that this one is about “leaving something before you know it’s going to completely implode. I think it’s quite rare to be able to actually pull it off and have it work out, and thankfully this time it did.” It’s as tender as her explanation suggests, with a hazy, minimalistic arrangement making room for her airy voice throughout. She is soon joined by the intricate harp playing of composer Aga Ujma, who adds layers of dreamy texture to the track. It’s a haunting and beautiful piece accompanied by a video that is almost as important as the music itself.
